Apple has confirmed that its ‘Black Friday’ sale will also be taking place in the UK, both in-store and online
The sale coincides with ‘Black Friday’ in the United States, the day after Thanksgiving when stores traditionally slash prices and the Christmas shopping rush begins.

Apple customers received an email wishing them “Happy Friday”. The message promised a special “one day shopping event” both in-store and online, and the illustration showed a pile of Apple products, including Mac laptops and computers, iPods, keyboards and an Apple TV, wrapped in a ribbon and bow.

Apple said the sale was for one day only, that some products were not available in all countries, and that not all sale products would be available in all stores. It also warned that the sale was limited to in-store stock, while supplies last.

Traditionally, Apple holds one sale per year to coincide with Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas shopping season. Last year, shoppers saved around £60 when buying a MacBook and around £30 when buying an iMac.

Apple’s iPod range was reduced by between £5 and £11, while the Apple TV and Time Capsule external hard drive were around £11 cheaper. The discounts are small compared to some of the reductions offered by rival retailers, but Apple rarely cuts the cost of any of its premium price products.

Last week, the technology website Boy Genius Report claimed to have seen a leaked document giving details of Apple’s ‘Black Friday’ reductions. The leaflet seemed to indicate reductions of around 25 per cent on some of the most expensive laptops and computers, but Apple has refused to comment on the rumours.
